"My husband Dean and I moved to Sequim in 1988. At that time we were living in the Seattle area and came out to the Olympic Peninsula on a short trip to visit friends in Port Angeles. I had never been here, in spite of having been a Northwest resident since the early '70's. We had heard about the rain shadow of course. We thought that 15 - 18" of rain per year was an overly enthusiastic claim made by locals. We were stunned by the natural beauty we found here. the residents seemed friendly, relaxed and happy in their rural paradise. Impulsively, we bought a small home on a local lake. Since that time we have moved three times - each time eager to experience a different setting in such a beautiful place. Our community has grown over time. However the basic pace of life, the casual rural feeling and the friendliness of the local people has remained a constant comfort and is still unchanged. The Dungeness valley is a heavenly place to enjoy a huge variety of outdoor activities.
